Organ Recovery

DCIDS Organ Procurement Organizations in California, New Mexico and Tennessee provide consultation services to hospitals for the purpose of determining the potential for lifesaving organ donation.   When this possibility exists, our staff provides counseling to families regarding the donation decision, whether the individual has chosen to be a designated donor, or the decision is left to the family to make on the individual’s behalf.  Upon receiving authorization for donation, our staff coordinates the evaluation, allocation, and recovery of the organs given for transplantation.  This process all takes place with the utmost respect and concern for the gift, the family, the donor, and those who will receive the lifesaving gift.
