The field of organ and tissue transplantation, like every other medical field, has been enhanced over the years through meaningful research.In 1996, DCI Donor Services made the commitment to provide funding, when able, for research and development to qualified investigators with projects involving organ, tissue and eye donation and transplantation. DCIDS began soliciting research applications early in 1997. Each project we receive is reviewed and scored by outside experts in the appropriate field for scientific merit. Our own Application and Review Committee then scores each application for its consistency with, and importance to, our mission. All of the projects’ total scores are then ranked and awards are made based on this scoring system. DCIDS members believe that research is essential to progress and will benefit the entire field of organ donation and transplantation. Our continued commitment to this important work is also consistent with our mission and the terms of our non-profit charter. |
