Mountain Region Donor Services is located in Johnson City, Tennessee and serves 8 counties in northeast Tennessee and 8 counties in southwest Virginia.  MRDS provides organ and tissue recovery services to 25 area hospitals and strives to increase awareness about the critical need for organ and tissue donors through public and professional education.

 

Thanks to someone's willingness to help others, Sarah Calhoun is a grateful, happy 12 year old who is experiencing the things in life all children her age do.
bulletIn the year 2001, over 24,000 lives were saved through organ transplantation
bulletIn the same year, over 6000 people died due to a lack of donated organs.
bulletCurrently there are over 80,000 Americans needing a lifesaving organ transplant - over 2,300 are children.
bulletIn the year 2000, 242 children died while waiting on an organ transplant.
bulletBeing a donor is as simple as signing your drivers license or donor card OR simply telling your family.
bulletA signed donor document does NOT compromise the  medical care a patient receives.
bulletFamilies are not charged for the donation process.
bulletMost Americans and the majority of U.S. religions support organ and tissue donation.
bulletBy donating $1.00 when you renew your vehicle's license tags can help educate others about the critical need for organ and tissue donations through the Tennessee County Clerks "HELP RENEW LIVES" campaign.

By donating $1.00 when you renew your vehicle's license tags, you can help educate others about the critical need for organ and tissue donations through the Tennessee County Clerks "HELP RENEW LIVES" campaign. 

 

If you mail in your renewal, simply add $1 to the registration charge and check the appropriate box indicating your are “adding a dollar for donor awareness”.  If you visit your local County Clerk, you may be asked if you would like to donate a dollar for donor awareness; if not, simply tell the staff member you would like to do so.
